Job Summary
Conduct patient triage via phone and in-person visits, evaluate healthcare needs, and determine appropriate disposition for appointments, urgent care, or self-care. Perform nurse visits administering vaccines, injections, and treatments while providing evidence-based health education across family medicine, pediatrics, OB/GYN, and behavioral health. Assess vital signs, screen for communicable diseases, and implement infection-control precautions. Review labs and imaging, document abnormal results, and develop nursing care plans based on patient evaluations. Respond to codes and rapid responses, verify verbal orders, and maintain clear communication with providers and team members. Work onsite at Thundermist Health Center in South County, Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with occasional unscheduled overtime.
Required Qualifications
- Current State of Rhode Island Registered Nurse license
- CPR certification
- Strong triage, assessment, and documentation skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with patients, providers, and community agencies
- Manual dexterity required for injections, immunizations, and computer use
- Moderate physical activity including walking, standing, stooping, and occasional lifting
- Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens, biohazardous materials, and infectious diseases such as tuberculosis and COVID-19
Desired Qualifications
- Three or more years of nursing experience preferred — new RN graduates are welcome to apply
- Ambulatory health care experience is a plus
