Job Summary
Assess and manage breastfeeding mothers and infants, particularly those with concerns, exercising independent judgment in nursing processes and procedures. Support training of new associates on breastfeeding techniques and standards of care while serving as a subject matter expert to units. Facilitate education for clients and hospital staff using adult learning principles to plan, implement, and present care plans. Work shifts as mother-baby nurses in the Women's Services department at Holy Cross Hospital-Mountain Point, specializing in labor or level 2 nursery. Maintain flexibility as assigned areas may change, managing patient acuity to adjust nurse-to-patient ratios. Collaborate within a supportive team environment where employees can become instructors or contribute to the Shared Governance Council.
Required Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Nursing
- Nursing Diploma
- Three years nursing experience
- RN License
- Current state nursing licenses
- Valid RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact
- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
- Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC)
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing
- Prior lactation training
- Prior lactation certification
- Basic knowledge of Adult Learning Principles
- Experience demonstrating the competent assessment, treatment, and care of all ages, including neonates
- National certification
