Job Summary
RN Lactation Consultant provides breastfeeding education, consultation, and counseling to support new mothers; assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates breastfeeding management for patients using the nursing process in inpatient and outpatient settings; acts as an advocate for breastfeeding as the child-feeding norm; conducts prenatal breastfeeding classes and evaluates educational outcomes; delivers outpatient care, consultation, and home visits for families experiencing breastfeeding difficulties; serves as a clinical expert/resource for staff on lactation standards and participates in policy and educational program development.
Required Qualifications
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in state of practice
- BSN from an accredited institution
- IBCLC certification within two (2) years of hire
- BLS-HCP certification within 60 days of hire or obtain within 60 days with approval
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) required as of 4/27/2025
