Job Summary
Direct and coordinate nursing care for labor and delivery patients, overseeing licensed and unlicensed personnel through the nursing process to achieve desired outcomes. Collaborate with the healthcare team to improve care quality by integrating research and evidenced-based knowledge, while participating in performance and quality improvement activities. Coordinate patient, family, and health team involvement in care, including teaching and discharge planning, and act as a point of contact for hospital policies and procedures. Assist leadership in defining standards of excellence and participate in unit committees for policy formulation. Provide input on unit needs and perform other duties as assigned. Requires BSN, valid Virginia RN license, and experience in labor and delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Experience as a Registered Nurse
- Valid RN License from Virginia or reciprocal compact state
- BSN
- AHA BLS Provider CPR
- AHA ACLS Provider
- NRP
- Ability to lift 35 lbs.
- Ability to push and pull 20 lbs.
- Auditory and visual skills to include color determination
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Ability to reach above/overhead
- Critical thinking and analytical skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team
- Capacity to cope with difficult situations
- Ability to tolerate irregular hours including evenings, nights, and weekends
- Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment
- Driving requirements

- Minimum of 1 year L&D, LDRP experience
