Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Mercy’s Labor & Birth unit provides safe, patient-centered obstetric and newborn care by utilizing the nursing process, maintaining patient rights and confidentiality, evaluating care effectiveness, and coordinating patient care collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams. The role supports mothers and babies across the full continuum of care within a faith-based environment, supported 24/7 by in-house OB hospitalists, anesthesia, and Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists. The unit emphasizes compassionate, high-quality care, opportunities to float to other Women’s and Children’s units, and ongoing professional development (including RN to BSN tuition support). Required certifications may include BLS, ACLS, NRP, ENPC, TNCC, C-PHON, OCN, PALS, PEARS, STABLE, and C-EFM, among others as dictated by unit/hiring requirements. Licensure must be current in the hiring state and/or compact licensure; demonstrates physical ability for the role (lifting up to 50 lbs, standing/walking).
