Job Summary
Utilize the nursing process to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered care for mothers and newborns across the full continuum of labor and birth, from low-risk deliveries to high-risk antenatal care. Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers and coordinate patient care collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, including in-house OB hospitalists, anesthesia, and Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists. Maintain professional accountability, uphold patient rights, and ensure confidentiality while performing duties aligned with Mercy's mission and Service Standards. This role requires obtaining and maintaining a current RN license and BLS certification within 30 days of hire, with additional certifications such as ACLS or NRP often required. The position demands prolonged standing, walking, and the ability to lift 50 lbs regularly.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated from a school of nursing (associate's degree, Diploma, or BSN)
- Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements
- Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire
