Job Summary
Assess, plan, and implement nursing care for well-baby, nursery, and IICN level 1 and 2 patients, including attending deliveries and initiating resuscitation as needed. Provide prescribed medication and treatment, assist physicians during procedures, and monitor patient conditions while notifying staff when appropriate. Orient new staff, precept students, and assume relief charge nurse duties as assigned. Float to the FBC to provide postpartum maternal and infant care. Adhere to the "10 Steps" of the BABYFRIENDLYTM initiative. Requires at least two years of acute care hospital experience in a level II or higher nursery, a Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred, and a California RN license. Per Diem 12-hour noc shift with hourly shift differentials.
Required Qualifications
- At least 2 years of acute care hospital experience in a level II or higher level nursery
- Successful completion of a NICU training program
- Knowledge of well newborn care
- Knowledge of newborn delivery admission
- Knowledge of resuscitation
- Knowledge of maternal postpartum care
- State of California RN license
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS
- American Heart Association NRP Advanced Provider
- STABLE certification
- Must pass orientation and initial competency assessment prior to independent assignment of patients requiring the applicable skill
- Must complete and pass all annual competencies
Desired Qualifications
