Job Summary
Registered Nurse for the Intensive Care Unit at Osler Health System in Brampton, ON. The role involves providing patient-centered, exception-focused critical care nursing, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care; infection control; patient and family education; and support for discharge planning. Requires SLED/CRRT training within 2 years of hire and IABP training during Orientation, with two years of recent critical care experience or five years in acute medical/surgical care plus Critical Care Certificate Level 3. Must hold registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, BCLS, ACLS, and coronary care certifications, and demonstrate leadership, teamwork, and excellent interpersonal skills. May travel between Osler sites. Hours rotate across days and nights, including weekends and holidays; salaries range hourly CAD figures.
Required Qualifications
- Current registration, and in good standing, with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- BCLS required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support required
- Coronary Care I required
- Coronary Care II preferred
- Critical Care Certificate Level 3 or equivalent critical care experience
- Minimum five years experience with two years in acute medical/surgical unit plus critical care training OR two full years recent critical care nursing experience
- SLED/CRRT training within 2 years of hire; IABP training during Orientation
- Demonstrated ability to work in an inter-professional team; strong communication and leadership skills
- Knowledge of infection control, patient and family-centered care, discharge planning, and patient education
- Ability to travel between Osler sites
- Current nursing practice requirements and Act/OHSA awareness
- Excellent attendance and work record
- Knowledge of information systems and technology
