Job Summary
Registered Nurse (RN) in the Intensive Care Unit providing patient-centered nursing care in a major Ontario hospital system. Responsibilities include applying nursing process, infection control, patient and family teaching, discharge planning, and collaboration within an inter-professional team. Requires critical care experience or CC certificate, ACLS and coronary care certifications, ongoing competency in SLED/CRRT and IABP training, and ability to travel between Osler sites. Hours include 12-hour shifts across days/nights with weekends and statutory holidays; location is Brampton, Ontario. The role emphasizes safe, compassionate care, leadership, and continuous professional development in a fast-paced critical care environment.
Required Qualifications
- Current registration, and in good standing, with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- BCLS required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support required
- Coronary Care I required
- Coronary Care II preferred
- IABP training provided during Orientation – maintaining ongoing competency is required
- SLED / CRRT training within 2 years of date of hire – maintaining ongoing competency is required
- Critical Care Response Team (CCRT) training after 2 years of Critical Care nursing
- Experience within the last five years, with minimum of two years in an acute medical/surgical unit along with a critical care certificate is required or a minimum of two full years recent experience as a critical care nurse required
- Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Excellent attendance, punctuality and work record
- Knowledge and understanding of information systems and technology
- Demonstrated leadership and facilitation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a stressful and fast-paced environment
- May be required to travel and work between all Osler sites
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an inter-professional team
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development as it applies to the profession and related field
