Job Summary
RN in Mayo Clinic's ICU, responsible for coordinating nursing care, direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care within a high-acuity ICU. Role emphasizes leadership through precepting and participation in quality improvement, with opportunities to mentor and collaborate across disciplines. Requires ICU nursing experience, RN licensure, ACLS/BLS, ECG competency, and flexibility to work night shifts with variable weekends; BSN is preferred. Internal candidates may have pathway options and must attach recent performance appraisals as applicable. The ICU includes diverse patient populations and complex interventions, including ECMO, LVAD, and transplant-related care; nurses operate within Mayo Clinic’s Nursing Professional Practice Model and may participate in committees or projects.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited associate or diploma nursing program
- One year of RN ICU experience
- BSN preferred
- ACLS and BLS certifications
- Maintains ECG competency
- Current RN license by applicable state requirements
- Ability to work flexible hours including days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends
- Internal candidates may need to attach performance appraisals if applicable
- Advanced training programs for ICU readiness (e.g., Mayo Clinic Advanced Complex Care Program or High Acuity Fellowship) may be considered
