Job Summary
Greet patients, perform assessments, and administer chemotherapy while monitoring reactions and managing office emergencies. Coordinate patient care by reviewing orders, scheduling appointments, obtaining blood specimens, and responding to treatment-related phone calls. Educate families on self-care, nutrition, and medications; assist with insurance claims, home health referrals, and hospitalization pre-certifications. Maintain patient records, inventory, and infusion equipment while supporting Clinical Research Coordinators and attending required meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Active and appropriate state(s) RN licensure
- ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy certification within 6 months of hire and bi-annual renewal
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) required within one year of eligibility
- BLS or CPR certification
- Associates degree, bachelor's degree, or diploma in nursing
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, regulations and practices to give and evaluate patient care
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish/maintain a safe working environment
- Knowledge of chemotherapy and biotherapy to give and evaluate response to therapy and to ensure a safe working environment
- Thorough knowledge base regarding chemotherapy drugs, side effects, and treatment regimens
- Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care
- Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions
- Skill in preparing/maintaining records, writing reports and responding to correspondence
- Skills in IV access including central venous access devices
- Ability to maintain quality control standards
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing
- Consistently arrives at work in appropriate/professional attire
- Completes all tasks within established time frame
- Adheres to all clinic policies and procedures
- Ability to excel in an environment of constant change, problems and unexpected interruptions, where extreme pressure to deliver results is expected
- Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with physicians and non-physician support staff
- Knowledge of computer systems and applications
- Working knowledge of Clinical IT applications
- Must be available for Monday-Friday (8:00-4:30) schedule
- Must be available for no late evenings or weekend hours
Desired Qualifications
