Job Summary
RN II in Surgical ICU provides direct patient care and leadership within the unit. Responsibilities include nursing assessments, administering medications, assisting with exams and treatments, patient education, and maintaining medical records. Collaborates with physicians and the interprofessional team to coordinate care, ensure patient safety, and achieve desired outcomes. Demonstrates leadership through activities such as serving as charge nurse or preceptor to students or new staff, and contributing to unit or hospital-wide initiatives in partnership with management. Night shift role with emphasis on clinical competence, critical thinking, and effective communication; requires utilization of clinical judgment, teamwork, and adherence to nursing practice standards.
Required Qualifications
- RN - Registered Nurse - Texas State Licensure (Texas Board of Nursing)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- 12 months RN experience in a healthcare environment
- Graduate of an education program approved by credentialing body for required credentials
- Possession of permanent Texas license within 60 days if establishing Texas residency
- Ability to speak/read/write English proficiently
