Job Summary
Maintain safe patient care and advocate for patient safety in collaboration with staff, departments, and system initiatives. Effectively perform all nursing functions in accordance with policies, procedures, and the Indiana Nurse Practice Act. Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while managing phone and walk-in triage to determine appropriate levels of care. Document assessments, medication administration, and patient teaching; monitor lab studies and notify providers. Teach patients and significant others health information, integrating cultural and population-specific diversity needs into care. Delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff skill sets, assuming supervisory functions when the Charge Nurse or Clinic Manager is absent. Act as a preceptor to support staff development and formal students. Participate in performance improvement activities using evidence-based practice to identify clinical or operational opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Current Indiana license as a Registered Nurse or eligibility for Indiana licensure
- A minimum of 1 year of professional nursing experience
- Skill in using/operating specialized equipment
- Competence/accountability in administering medications, treatments, performing tests
- Exhibits good communication skills to include effective listening and interviewing techniques
- Demonstrates knowledge of diseases/symptoms, usual treatments/medications/interventions, current clinical concepts
- Demonstrates ability to function as member of the healthcare team and to delegate responsibilities/duties appropriately
- Able to follow oral/written instructions and record/interpret information accurately
- Demonstrates basic computer skills
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills and can give rationale
- Performs CPR when situation indicates
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred, easily understood in both languages
Desired Qualifications
- Mental Health experience preferred
- CPR certification (American Heart Association Healthcare Provider preferred)
- TB certification is preferred
