Job Summary
Deliver safe, effective perioperative patient care to families and patients while interacting with the health care team to achieve desired results. Provide individualized, goal-directed care utilizing the nursing process under general supervision. Requires OR experience as a scrub and circulating nurse. This role is part of the CHS - Perioperative Float Pool at the Medical University of South Carolina, a Magnet® designated hospital recognized among the top one percent of American hospitals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred
- A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse
- Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Must have OR experience- scrub & circulating
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted
- Ability to lift/lower objects 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted
- Ability to lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs
- Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force
- Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes
- Ability to match or discriminate between colors
- Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception
- Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction
- Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations
- Ability to work rotating shifts
- Ability to work overtime as required
- Ability to work in a latex safe environment
- Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions
- Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required
Desired Qualifications
- RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date
