Job Summary
Provide total clinical nursing care for critically ill children during transportation, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating delivery of nursing care in accordance with medical plans and standards. Promote, plan, direct, and implement medical management and safe transportation for infants or children in consultation with attending physicians. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members from sending and receiving facilities to coordinate care and ensure safety of all transport operations. Acquire and maintain advanced neonatal skills including intubation, ventilation, and chest needle aspirations while maintaining all required certifications. Work rotating 12-hour shifts, three days per week including nights and weekends, with substantial walking and standing. Minimum 5 years of pediatric critical experience in NICU, PICU, or PCICU required, with BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and Advanced Trauma Care certifications obtained prior to orientation.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of pediatric critical experience in NICU, PICU, PCICU or similar
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- PALS certification
- NRP certification
- Advanced Trauma Care Provider Certification
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted
- Ability to lift/lower objects 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted
- Ability to lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs
- Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force
- Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes
- Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance
- Ability to match or discriminate between colors
- Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception
- Good peripheral vision capabilities
- Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction
- Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations
- Ability to work rotating shifts
- Ability to work overtime as required
- Ability to work in a latex safe environment
- Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions
- Ability to maintain good olfactory sensory function
- Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required
