Job Summary
Provide individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients in the Hollings Chemotherapy clinic, utilizing the nursing process to deliver safe and effective outcomes. Interact with the healthcare team to achieve desired results while adhering to a 3x12-hour shift schedule totaling 36 weekly hours. Maintain current Basic Life Support certification and hold a Bachelor of Nursing degree or be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years of hire. Work in a latex-safe environment, managing physical demands including lifting 50 lbs. and performing frequent fine motor tasks. Report to the Unit Manager at the Medical University of South Carolina, a Magnet® designated hospital recognized as a top one percent of American hospitals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred
- A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse
- Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted
- Ability to lift/lower objects 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted
- Ability to lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs.
- Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force
- Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes
- Ability to match or discriminate between colors
- Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception
- Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction
- Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations
- Ability to work rotating shifts
- Ability to work overtime as required
- Ability to work in a latex safe environment
- Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions
- Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required
Desired Qualifications
- RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date
