Job Summary
Provide nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). Lead and collaborate with other assigned team members to deliver age-appropriate care across the patient population in a Short Stay Unit setting. Focus on safe, patient-centered care and coordinates with multidisciplinary team members to meet patient and family needs, including health teaching, promotion, and evaluation of goals. Requires licensure as an RN in SC or a compact state, BLS certification, and a minimum of one year of RN experience. BSN preferred; employees hired with ADN/ Diploma are required to pursue BSN within specified timelines. Training emphasizes professional practice, governance participation, and accountability for actions and critical thinking. MUSC emphasizes patient privacy, respect, and a healing environment, with opportunities across academics, research, hospital medicine, and support services.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred
- RN licensure by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers
- A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse
- RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing must enroll in an accredited BSN program within two years and obtain a BSN within four years of hire or reclassification
