Job Summary
Assess patient needs and implement teaching strategies for diverse groups, including family and interdisciplinary teams. Manage nursing resources effectively while using the nursing process to deliver care and promote optimal outcomes. Adapt communication styles to specific patient populations and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Work directly with patients in a patient care area, managing physical demands of lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally. Requires current RN license, BLS certification, and proficiency in computer software. Full-time or PRN night shifts available in Chalmette.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Must be able to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly
- Must be able to perform duties involving exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- Must be able to work in an area where patients enter and works directly with patients
- Must be able to work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
- Must be able to handle occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Certification in clinical specialty area
