Job Summary
Assess patient needs and implement teaching strategies for patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. Use the nursing process to deliver care while effectively delegating and managing team resources. Communicate clearly with varying levels of individuals and adapt explanations to specific patient populations. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws and accreditation standards. Perform other related duties as required, including handling specimens that may contain communicable diseases.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to perform heavy work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly
- Ability to perform duties requiring exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- Ability to work in a patient care area where patients enter and works directly with patients
- Ability to work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
- Ability to handle occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases
- Ability to handle occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Certification in clinical specialty area
