Job Summary
Deliver patient care using the Nursing Process, assess learning needs, and implement teaching strategies for patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. Manage nursing team resources effectively while communicating and delegating within the ICU unit. Evaluate data to promote change and achieve optimal patient outcomes, maintaining accountability for quality care and cultural sensitivity. Utilize computer skills for data entry and proficiency with Windows-style applications to support the department's strategic goals.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse Diploma
- Current RN License in the state of practice
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Frequently exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force to move objects
- Occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force
- Exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- Work in a patient care area
- Work in an area where patients enter
- Work directly with patients
- Work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Certification in clinical specialty area
