Job Summary
ICU RN per-diem position in New Orleans focusing on critical care for life-threatening conditions. Responsibilities include hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, titration of vasoactive/sedative infusions, advanced procedures (central/arterial lines, chest tubes), telemetry interpretation, and collaboration with intensivists, therapists, pharmacists, and dietitians. Requires active Louisiana RN license, BLS, 1+ year ICU experience, and an accredited RN program (Associate's or Bachelor’s). Per-diem schedule with shifts 7:30 am–4:00 pm CDT/CST; hourly rate $39.54. Strong clinical judgment, communication, and end-of-life care skills expected.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree)
- Licensure: Active Louisiana state RN license and current BLS Certification
- Experience: At least one year of relevant experience in ICU or critical care
- Technical Skills: Continuous hemodynamic monitoring (arterial lines, CVP, pulmonary artery catheters); ventilator management; titration of vasoactive and sedative IV infusions; management of bedside emergency equipment (defibrillator, crash cart)
- Soft Skills: Exceptional critical thinking and rapid clinical judgment; calm under emergencies; meticulous attention to detail; strong communication with multidisciplinary teams and families; compassionate care for critically ill patients and families
- Key Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients (sepsis, respiratory failure, MI, stroke, DKA, GI bleed, multi-organ dysfunction, post-cardiac arrest); assess hemodynamics, respiratory status, neurologic function, pain and sedation; titrate IV infusions; manage ventilated patients; interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKGs; perform advanced procedures (central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, drains); collaborate with care team; coordinate safe patient transport; provide end-of-life care; educate patients and families; document in EMR
