Job Summary
Registered Nurse ICU role providing patient advocacy and applying the nursing process within the hospital setting. Responsibilities include recognizing/reporting deviations from patient norms, documenting nursing interventions, prioritizing patient assignments, coordinating with health team, initiating emergency responses, planning for potential needs during emergencies, defining nursing diagnoses and outcomes, modifying plans of care as needed, and ensuring adherence to Rhode Island Nurse Practice Act standards. Requires RN licensure in Rhode Island (or NLC) and CPR certification; Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred. Night shift consists of three 12-hour shifts (7pm-7:30am) with alternating weekends/holidays at The Miriam Hospital, Providence, RI. The role supports quality improvement and collaborates with LPNs/CNAs and other licensed personnel.
Required Qualifications
- Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing
- Graduate of a school of nursing, Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred
- Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation upon hire
- Understanding of the Nurse Practice Act of Rhode Island
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island
- Conformity to the Code of Professional Nurses
- Experience or ability to provide care to patients across the life span with sensitivity to aging processes and cultural diversity
