Job Summary
Assess, plan, deliver, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care for patients in the Emergency Department while adhering to research-based practice standards. Collect and analyze patient health data, develop individualized plans of care, and implement appropriate interventions. Evaluate patient progress toward goals and advocate for patient autonomy, dignity, and rights. Direct and supervise patient care provided by LPNs and support personnel according to department guidelines. Complete required unit credentialing, submit orientation checklists, and maintain accurate documentation of all patient care activities. Perform and document Point of Care testing and quality control in accordance with established laboratory policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- 2 year / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Vocational / Technical Diploma Professional Nursing Program
- New graduate or less than one year of experience as an Registered Nurse
- NYS licensure as Registered Nurse or valid interim permit
- BLS certification
- Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects
- Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, kneeling, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching
- Frequent fit testing
- Constant typing, grasping, hearing, repetitive motion, seeing/ monitor/ computer use, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, walking
- Occasional radiation/radiant energy
- Frequent bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure
- Occasional noise, vibration, wet and/or humid
- Frequent odors
- Occasional Travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis
Desired Qualifications
- 4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- All RN's hired and do not currently hold a BSN will be expected to demonstrate enrollment in a bachelor's prepared nursing program within 4 years of hire
- BSN must be completed within 10 years
- RN's licensed on or before 12/19/17 are/remain exempt from this requirement
- Other certifications may be needed based on department requirements
