Job Summary
Provide general nursing care and/or supervision of personnel delivering care to patients across infant to geriatric in a hospital setting. Responsibilities include patient assessment, administering medications and IV therapies, monitoring vital signs, responding to emergencies, providing education to patients and families, and ensuring proper documentation. Requires completion of a nursing program, licensure as a registered nurse in Texas, current BLS (with division-specific certifications as required), effective English communication, and competent computer skills. Demonstrates competence in caring for patients across all age groups, adheres to ACLS protocols during emergencies, and may supervise staff and coordinate transfers as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Registered with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas
- Current BLS (and additional courses/certifications as required by division)
- Effective communication in English (verbal and written)
- Good computer skills
- Ability to perform patient assessment and care
- Knowledge of medication administration and dosages
- Ability to work in emergency situations and follow ACLS protocol
- Ability to supervise others and document accurately
- Ability to transfer patients and coordinate with Social Work as needed
- Maintains continuing education in nursing
