Job Summary
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Nurse Resident functions as a support to licensed nursing staff and performs activities related to personal care and hygiene for an assigned patient group. Facilitates communication with other departments, visitors, patients, medical staff and employees; serves as public relations liaison for the unit; works under the direct supervision of the nursing manager. Collects data on assigned patients, ensures accurate documentation, demonstrates competency in vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, and intake/output; stocks nurse servers and supplies; completes all mandatory training and competency modules. Based in Urbana, IL, with opportunities across Medical/Surgical, Critical Care, Women’s, Children’s, Ambulatory, and other departments; role emphasizes teamwork, patient care, documentation, and unit maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- Associates Nursing or College Diploma Nursing
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Completion of first semester of Registered Nurse (RN) education program or Documented military training and Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Assists with maintenance of unit supplies and data collection
- Demonstrates competency in vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, and intake/output
- Stocking nurse servers, ordering supplies, and day-to-day unit operation tasks
- Completes mandatory training and competency modules
