Job Summary

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients in the Holy Rosary OB/GYN and General Surgery clinics using the nursing process and evidence-based practice. Prioritize and triage care delivery, obtain patient consent, document health histories and vital signs, and administer prescribed treatments and medications while monitoring patient response. Educate patients and families on health maintenance and chronic condition management, assist with provider results and lactation consultations, and provide wound care services. Participate in multidisciplinary teams to improve care processes, track quality assurance data, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and clinic policies. Requires current RN licensure, BLS or ACLS certification, and one year of clinic or acute hospital experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current/valid Registered Nurse license from the state licensing board
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS)
  • One (1) year related experience in a clinic or acute hospital nursing setting
  • Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts
  • Knowledge of nursing processes; health care systems, structure, and functions; and community resources
  • Understanding of health care technology, equipment, and supplies
  • Familiarity with state law on nursing care, nurse practice guidelines, and clinic policies and procedures
  • Ability to effectively communicate to staff and patients
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and composure with the ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations
  • Maintain a positive, caring attitude towards patients
  • Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism
  • Critical thinking skills within scope of practice population health management and improvement of patient outcomes
  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
  • Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment
  • Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
  • Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc)
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
