Job Summary
Assess, intervene, educate, and advocate for post-operative patients during phase 1 and 2 recovery at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Deliver primary care in the PACU while maintaining infection prevention standards and applying critical thinking in a fast-changing environment. Manage patient flow across the peri-anesthesia unit and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team. Maintain current Ontario registration, BCLS, and ACLS certification. Requires two years of recent post-surgical care and critical course experience.
Required Qualifications
- At least 2 years recent post-surgical care experience
- Critical Care Course
- Recent Critical Care/ PACU experience
- Flexibility to work throughout the Peri Anaesthesia environment
- Venipuncture and IV Certification
- Knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control best practice
- Demonstrated knowledge in patient centre care approach and principles
- Ability to adapt to a multi-focused, fast-changing and stressful environment
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education within the past 2 years
- Demonstrated commitment to organizational initiatives, participation in nursing council, unit committees and quality improvement projects
- Demonstrated effective ability in: interpersonal relationships; oral and written communication skills; organization skills; prioritizing; problem solving; decision making; facilitating team work; conflict resolution
- Current Ontario Registration
- Current BCLS
