Job Summary
Administer primary care for illnesses, injuries, and dental or mental health problems while managing chronic conditions and trauma cases. Conduct regularly scheduled sick calls for assessments and treat minor illnesses per physician standing orders. Perform cursory health evaluations, including vitals and lab testing, for new students within their first 48 hours on center. Collaborate with mental health counselors and medical providers to monitor students on psychotropic or chronic medications, making referrals to private physicians, dentists, and community resources as needed. Prepare the wellness center for Program Compliance Assessments and conduct internal record audits. Maintain medical records and accident forms ensuring strict adherence to HIPAA and the Privacy Act. Requisition, store, and safeguard medical supplies and drugs, including controlled substances. Assist the Health and Wellness Director with internal program assessments and manage daily dispensary and clinical equipment operations. Participate in the Tobacco Use Prevention Program and biochemical testing initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work both independently and as an integrated member of a healthcare team
- Strong interpersonal skills to counsel, educate, and motivate students to succeed in their vocational and academic performance
- Proficiency in providing services in a positive manner to facilitate student participation in treatment plans
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of professional nursing experience in clinical care, ambulatory care, public health, or emergency triage
- Current, active Montana State Registered Nurse (RN) License or a multistate compact RN license in good standing
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification
- Must agree to a criminal background check and drug testing as a prerequisite for contract performance
- Must have an active, unrestricted Registered Nurse license to practice in the state where services are provided
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred or required depending on center emergency protocols
