Job Summary
Registered Nurse in the Heart Center Communications Department at Duke University Hospital (Durham, NC) with a hybrid in-person/remote schedule. Responsibilities include telephonic care management, triage, messaging, scheduling, prescription refills, medication reconciliation, patient education, motivational support, and identification of readmission risks. Requires expert nursing decision making, effective written and oral communication, coordination with care teams, and processing for electrophysiology procedures (e.g., pacemakers, defibrillators, ablations). Manages care transitions, discharge planning, and coordination with providers, clinics, schedulers, and home health. Emphasizes patient-centered care, EMTALA knowledge, and integration of software/technology into workflows.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher) or an Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program is required
- Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina
- BLS required
- Experience: minimum 3 years of medical-surgical hospital experience; cardiology experience preferred
