Job Summary
Plan, deliver, and manage direct patient care in the Emergency Department using the nursing process, evidence-based practice, and unit guidelines. Maintain patient assignments, document assessments and care plans, and communicate via SBAR to ensure continuity. Implement medical interventions, administer medications, and utilize clinical reasoning to address critical emergencies. Act as a patient advocate, delegate tasks per Massachusetts law, and serve as a charge nurse when requested. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, participate in performance improvement activities, and maintain competency in infection control and technology. Work 36-hour night shifts (7pm-7:30am) with rotating weekends and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a graduate of a recognized school of Nursing
- Must have a current Massachusetts Registered Nurse License
- Ability to read, write and speak clearly in English
- Possesses and applies the skills and knowledge necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging process, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process
- Ability to provide care for a designated group of patients according to the unit guidelines and hospital policies, procedures and protocols
- Ability to lead, guide and motivate staff
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays and off-shifts as required by unit staffing needs
Desired Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree (BSN) in Nursing is preferred
- 2-3 years of Nursing experience preferred
- Certification in a nursing specialty desired
