Job Summary
Perform physical examinations and establish medical histories to determine donor suitability at plasma donation centers. Build rapport with donors to ensure customer satisfaction while ensuring donor and staff confidentiality. Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events, providing education on general health and counseling regarding unacceptable test results. Administer employee Hepatitis Vaccine programs and assist in staff training. Perform evaluations of illness history and medications to ensure continued donor suitability. Work independently in a plasma center environment with potential exposure to biological fluids and electrical equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as either an Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocation Nurse
- Current CPR certification
- Hearing acuity
- Color perception/discrimination
- Near vision and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye
- Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Ability to work independently and within guidance of oral or written instructions
- Ability to perform a wide range of tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
- Ability to work in a plasma center
- Ability to handle exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms
- Ability to handle exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment
- Ability to handle exposure to extreme cold below 32 degrees F
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as protective eyewear, garments, gloves and cold-gear
