Job Summary
Operating Room Registered Nurse (Perioperative RN) provides perioperative nursing care across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases in a pediatric-to-geriatric population. Responsibilities include patient assessments, developing and updating perioperative care plans, maintaining sterile technique and equipment readiness, applying aseptic and safety protocols, monitoring physiological changes during procedures, and collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary teams. Roles also include preoperative education for patients and families, accurate documentation of perioperative care and specimens, adherence to AORN standards and facility policies, and ongoing professional development to stay current with perioperative best practices and patient safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program
- Active Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license
- BLS Certification (AHA) – current
- ACLS Certification (AHA) – current
- Minimum of 2 years Operating Room experience required or eligible for a required 6-month in-house OR training program
