Job Summary
Conduct high-quality patient care across Mercy facilities as a Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse in the GIG program. Self-schedule a minimum number of hours while maintaining flexibility for short-notice staffing needs and accepting last-minute shift cancellations, as GIG positions do not guarantee hours. Work 4, 8, or 12-hour shifts in day or night rotations with a minimum requirement of one shift every 90 days. Maintain a current RN license, hold BLS certification, and possess at least one year of recent bedside Med-Surg experience. Lift 50 pounds regularly and perform duties requiring prolonged standing, walking, and physical manipulation.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program
- Must maintain a current RN license in the hiring state and/or compact state licensure and meet all applicable state board of nursing requirements
- Minimum one (1) year of recent bedside RN experience in Medical-Surgical nursing within the last 3 years
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds regularly
- Prolonged standing and walking during shifts
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat while performing patient care duties
- Minimum 1 Shift Every 90 Days
- Flexibility for short-notice staffing needs
- Accept the possibility of last-minute shift cancellations
