Registered Nurse General Surgery Neuro

Registered Nurse for General Surgery Neuro responsible for safe, evidence-based nursing care of adult patients undergoing general surgery and neurosurgical procedures. Duties include comprehensive assessments, developing and implementing individualized care plans, administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient conditions, coordinating care from admission to discharge (pre- and post-operative education, pain management, wound care, neuro assessments, discharge planning), and collaborating with surgeons, hospitalists, anesthesiologists, therapists, case management, patients, and families to ensure patient-centered care. Role emphasizes critical thinking, clinical judgment, and advocacy for patient safety and quality outcomes, with documentation in the electronic health record, adherence to policy and guidelines, and opportunities to precept new team members and nursing students as part of a collaborative professional environment within Mission Health.
