Job Summary
Assess, plan, and deliver nursing care to patients while administering prescribed medications, treatments, and emergency first aid as ordered. Perform triage officer intake screenings, check vital signs, and record diagnostic data for statistical reporting. Collaborate with practitioners to coordinate medical services, maintain aseptic techniques, and provide patient education on facility policies and discharge planning. Document care information accurately and concisely, report treatment reactions, and notify supervisors of medical or security incidents. Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and perform duties within the RN scope of practice, including overseeing delegation and participating in in-service education. May cover shifts at multiple correctional facilities or act as a backup to the Site Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Active nursing license in the state in which services are to be provided, in good standing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; hands-on training
- Excellent documentation skills
- Knowledge of the RN scope of practice
