Job Summary
Plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for residents, including restorative programs like teaching self-care and behavior modifications. Administer medications and immunizations, perform treatments such as tracheotomy care and dressing changes, and monitor vital signs and seizure activity. Direct and supervise CNAs, LPNs, and other staff when assigned to unit charge, ensuring policies are followed and documentation is accurate. Confer with physicians, review medication records, and participate in interdisciplinary care planning and MDS completion. Maintain a safe, clean environment while educating families on treatment plans.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited RN program
- New York State RN License Required
- New York State RN Registration Certificate Required
- Current BCLS certification
- One (1) year clinical experience in a pediatric and/or adolescent chronic /rehabilitative care facility preferred
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently
- Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies
- Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this Center which includes a medical and physical examination
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents, if necessary
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in nursing preferred
