Job Summary
Assess, plan, and deliver nursing care to patients by contacting practitioners for orders and administering prescribed medications and treatments. Perform emergency first aid, check vital signs, triage intake screenings, and record data for statistical reporting and chronic clinic documents. Collaborate on diagnosis and treatment, maintain aseptic techniques, and provide patient education on facility policies and discharge planning. Report treatment reactions and condition changes, notify supervisors of incidents, and present in-service education sessions. Perform duties within state-mandated scope of practice, maintain patient confidentiality, and may cover shifts at multiple correctional facilities or act as a backup to the Site Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Active nursing license in the state in which services are to be provided, in good standing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; hands-on training
- Excellent documentation skills
- Knowledge of the RN scope of practice
- May be directed to cover shifts at multiple correctional facilities
- May be asked to act as a back-up to the H.S.A/Site Manager
- May be asked to train new hires and coworkers
