Job Summary
Assess, plan, and deliver nursing care to patients by contacting practitioners for orders, administering prescribed medications, and providing emergency first aid. Check and record vital signs, triage intake screenings, and report treatment reactions or condition changes. Collaborate on medical services, maintain aseptic techniques, and provide patient education on facility policies and discharge planning. Document care concisely, recommend procedural improvements, and participate in in-service education sessions. Perform duties within RN scope of practice, including delegation and acting as a backup to the Site Manager, with potential coverage at multiple correctional facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Active nursing license in the state in which services are to be provided, in good standing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; hands-on training
- Excellent documentation skills
- Knowledge of the RN scope of practice
- May be directed to cover shifts at multiple correctional facilities
- May be asked to act as a back-up to the H.S.A/Site Manager
- May be asked to train new hires and coworkers
