Job Summary

Delivers quality care to patients through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation while ensuring patient safety by executing appropriate policies. Assures patient safety by providing emotional and informational support to patients and families, assisting them in identifying individualized comfort measures and participating in their care plan. Educates patients about medical conditions and advises families, formulating discharge plans that maximize the patient's ability to continue meaningful life activities. Anticipates patient needs, facilitates communication with the health care team, and participates in performance improvement activities and regulatory agency readiness. Works within a team effort to optimize patient outcomes and customer satisfaction, adjusting staffing patterns as needed and attending educational sessions to improve assessment abilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Registered Nurse – NJ or Registered Nurse – NLC multi-state
  • AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider
  • ATCN or TNCC (or must obtain within 1 year of hire)
  • 8 hours of Trauma related Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) contact hours annually if assigned to: RMC ICU/CCU, RMC Surgical Trauma Unit, RMC PACU, Emergency Department (all campuses)
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification (or must obtain by end of orientation)
  • 8 hours of Stroke related Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) contact hours annually if assigned to: Critical Care, Intermediate Care Unit, Emergency Department, Neuro Units, Cardiology Inpatient at Hopewell, Peds ED, PACU, Interventional Radiology, CNI, Observation, Hospital at Home
  • ACLS (or must obtain within 6 months of hire date) if assigned to: Critical Care/Intermediate/Telemetry, Emergency Rooms, Pediatrics/Pediatrics Emergency Room, Labor & Delivery, Surgical Services (not to include Perioperative), Interventional Procedures, Observation
  • NRP (or must obtain within 6 months of hire date) if assigned to: Maternity Services
  • PALS (or must obtain within 6 months of hire date) if assigned to: Emergency Rooms, Infant Follow-Up, Surgical Services (only PACU & Same Day Surgery), Pediatrics/Pediatric ED
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Considerable knowledge of principles, practices and current trends in nursing
