Job Summary
Develop an individualized perioperative patient plan of care by protecting patients from injury and ensuring safe equipment operation. Administer medications safely, practice aseptic technique, and manage patient recovery from moderate sedation and monitored anesthesia care. Maintain endoscopy instruments, assess patient status at intervals, and provide education on pain, nutrition, and psychosocial responses. Document episode of care accurately, participate in quality review projects, and provide precise hand-off reports to teammates. Comply with Universal Protocol, facility policies, and regulatory standards while actively engaging in safety huddles and multidisciplinary planning.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current state nursing licensure to practice in good standings
- Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification
- Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification
- Successful completion of Pediatric Advance Life support (PALS) course is required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope of services within 90 days of employment or documentation of current PALS certification
Desired Qualifications
- One year of GI, OR and/or medical/surgical nursing experience preferred
- Specialty certification in GI Nursing is preferred
