Job Summary
Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department provides patient-focused nursing care across assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Maintains patient safety, infection control, therapeutic patient-family relationships, and high-quality care; delivers health teaching and discharge instructions; collaborates with an inter-professional team; may travel between Osler sites; day/night 12-hour shifts with weekend/holiday coverage; requires current nursing registration in Ontario and applicable certifications.
Required Qualifications
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- BCLS is required
- ACLS is required (Heart and Stroke certified) within six months of hire
- Arrhythmia interpretation competency (80% score on arrhythmia quiz prior to interview)
- Minimum of two years experience in a medical surgical unit (within the last five years)
- Emergency experience within the last five years preferred
- Coronary Care I and II are assets
- Trauma Nursing Core Course, Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program and Emergency Nursing Course are preferred
