Job Summary
Assess patients upon arrival to determine condition severity and prioritize care using standardized triage protocols. Provide direct care involving medication administration, wound care, splinting, vital sign monitoring, and pain management. Assist with stabilizing severe illness or trauma cases through advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support, and trauma care interventions. Manage high-stress situations by remaining calm and decisive while caring for multiple patients simultaneously during busy shifts or mass casualty events. Communicate clinical changes to physicians and educate patients and families on treatment options and discharge instructions. Maintain compliance with EMTALA regulations and abuse reporting protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Current and valid state RN License
- Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
- Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current
- Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 6 months of hire
- Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting
- In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current
- EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire
- Non OB facilities: NRP (AHA) certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as a Registered Nurse in Critical Care, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Cardiac Care, or Emergency Department
- ER setting
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
