Job Summary
Registered Nurse – Emergency Room, full-time night shift at Capital Health. Delivers quality patient care through the nursing process, ensuring patient safety, advocating for patients and families, and coordinating discharge planning. Works with a multidisciplinary team to educate patients about conditions, prepare traditional and individualized comfort measures, and participate in regulatory readiness and performance improvement efforts. Requires an Associate’s degree in nursing (BSN preferred) and RN license; includes intensive certification requirements (BLS, ACLS, ATCN/TNCC, NIH Stroke Scale, PALS, NRP as assigned) and trauma- or critical-care-related continuing education. 12-hour night shifts, in-person ER responsibilities, with a compensation range reflecting 1.0 FTE.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in nursing or equivalent
- Registered Nurse license (RN)
- AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider
- ATCN or TNCC certification (or must obtain within 1 year of hire) with 8 hours of Trauma-related CNE annually if assigned to ICU/CCU, Surgical Trauma Unit, PACU, Emergency Department (all campuses)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (or must obtain by end of orientation) with 8 hours of Stroke-related CNE annually if assigned to Critical Care/Intermediate/Telemetry, Emergency Rooms, Pediatrics, etc.
- ACLS certification (or obtain within 6 months of hire) if assigned to Critical Care/Intermediate/Telemetry/ER/Pediatrics, etc.
- NRP certification (or obtain within 6 months of hire) if assigned to Maternity Services
- PALS certification (or obtain within 6 months of hire) if assigned to Emergency Rooms, Infant Follow-Up, Surgical Services
- Ability to participate in discharge planning and patient/family education
- Familiarity with discharge planning which includes instructions on discharge medications
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
