Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions for emergency department patients while administering medications, IV therapy, and vasoactive drips. Perform initial assessments, triage protocols, and pain management upon arrival; monitor cardiac arrhythmias, arterial blood gases, and airway clearance. Collaboratively plan discharge, delegate interventions, and provide patient/family teaching based on identified needs. Proactively identify risks for abuse or violent behavior, initiate safety plans, and complete mandated reports for injuries like stabbings or sexual assault. Document all care, therapeutic interventions, and patient responses accurately; provide timely reports to the health care team to ensure continuity. Maintain knowledge of disaster policies, VAP bundles, and restraint indications.
Required Qualifications
- AS in nursing
- BS in nursing preferred
- 3-5 years ED experience preferred
- Registered Nurses
- Current MA license
- ACLS upon hire OR must hold an active BLS card and obtain AHA ACLS within 60 days of hire
- AHA PALS within six (6) months of hire
- TNCC, ENPC and CEN preferred
- Every third weekend
- Every third holiday
