Job Summary
Provide patient care in the Emergency Department using the nursing process, maintaining professional accountability and coordinating care with other departments. Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by direct care givers, uphold patient rights, and ensure confidentiality of patient information. Perform duties consistent with Mercy Service Standards, including standing and walking most of the time, lifting up to 50 lbs, and handling blood and body fluid exposure. Requires a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or completion of a course within the probation period. Required Qualifications
- Graduated from an approved or accredited school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN)
- Must be eligible to take board of nursing exam
- Must have a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within their probation period
- Must be able to stand and walk most of the time on duty
- Must be able to meet unit specific physical demands
- Must be able to perform significant amount of bending and stooping
- Must be able to lift and turn patients with assistance
- Must be able to work differing schedules, shifts, days of the week, or work frequency according to patient care requirements
- Must be able to handle high risk exposure to blood and body fluids
- Must be able to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to pinch up to 15 lbs.
- Must be able to kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally
