Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments reflecting age-specific physical, psychological, emotional, and environmental variables. Develop and update nursing plans of care with interdisciplinary team input while prioritizing care needs based on changing patient status. Administer prescribed medications, provide pain management, and coordinate discharge planning from admission through community referrals. Document treatments, monitor diagnostic data, and communicate status changes to physicians and shift charge nurses. Recognize signs of abuse or neglect and report per hospital policy. Maintain accurate records of patient responses to interventions and teaching plans. Full-time nights shift at Northwestern Medicine Valley West Hospital. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; ADN acceptable with commitment to obtain BSN within three years. Current Illinois RN license and AHA BLS certification mandatory.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) acceptable with commitment to obtain a BSN from an accredited program within three years of first day of employment in clinical nurse role
- Commitment to obtain a BSN from an accredited program within three years of first day of employment in clinical nurse role (if holding ADN)
