Job Summary
Registered Nurse-Elementary provides school-based nursing services to remove health-related barriers to learning and promote wellness and safety for students and staff. Responsibilities include health assessments, interventions, health counseling, referrals, screening procedures as required by Texas law, managing and supervising medications, coordinating with physicians and parents, participating in health education and policy planning, serving as health liaison between school and community, mentoring colleagues, and maintaining comprehensive student health records. Requires current Texas RN license, ADN/diploma acceptable with BSN preferred, CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor Certification, and TRAT2DC and vision/hearing screening certifications; strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; experience in school health is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Hold a current valid Texas Registered Nursing License issued by the Texas State Board of Nursing
- Associate Degree (ADN) / Diploma in Nursing accepted, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Desired Qualifications
- School nursing experience
- Two-three years hospital experience – pediatrics
- Current CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor Certification
- Certified by Texas Department of Health to conduct vision and hearing screening
- Certified for Texas Risk Assessment for Type 2 Diabetes in Children (TRAT2DC) screening
