Registered Nurse, Elective Surgery, PRN (Nights) - VUH

Apply the nursing process to plan and implement care for adult patients admitted for planned elective surgical procedures across general surgery, orthopedics, hernia, foregut, and bariatric specialties. Collaborate with the health care team to establish patient goals, evaluate progress, and ensure effective outcomes while providing patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Anticipate patient care needs and utilize evidence-based practice to address moderately complex problems, maintaining a safe environment and promoting health. Conduct primary care patient interviews and physical examinations, gathering pertinent clinical data to aid in referrals and treatment pathways. Work within a new 17-bed unit with a 1:5-6 nurse-to-patient ratio, where all surgeries are scheduled to create a predictable workflow. Shifts are PRN nights (7p-7am) with a requirement of 3 shifts in a six-week period.
