Job Summary
Assess educational needs of nursing staff, students, and others to plan and deliver orientation and continuing education. Mentor staff, monitor clinical competencies, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards while participating in committees to reinforce evidence-based care. Develop and evaluate educational programs for the hospital and community, including classroom instruction and unit in-service programs. Identify orientation needs for new employees, document progress, and address competency issues collaboratively with leadership. Conduct direct observations, chart reviews, and quality monitoring to ensure safe, high-quality patient care. Work a minimum of one 8-hour shift per month on an assigned floor to maintain current care techniques. Investigate concerns of nursing practice and stay current in the latest research to optimize patient safety and quality.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
- Minimum 2 years in area of specialty
- Current and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in NY State
- Works a minimum of one 8 hour shift per month as a direct care RN on an assigned floor
Desired Qualifications
- BSN or MSN
- AHA BLS and/or ACLS Instructor certification
- Certification in area of specialty
