Job Summary
Administer chemotherapeutic and biologic agents and supportive care medications as prescribed by a physician. Recognize and treat cancer-related and treatment-related issues while monitoring and charting vital signs in the medication administration record. Maintain knowledge of standard precautions and utilize appropriate PPE when handling cytotoxic agents and bloodborne pathogens. Requires a valid New York State RN license, BLS certification, and at least one year of oncology outpatient or medication administration experience. Schedule involves prolonged periods of sitting, standing, bending, and reaching with a requirement for reliable transportation to NYCBS locations.
Required Qualifications
- Valid New York State RN License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills
- Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when administering cytotoxic agents and handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Reliable transportation to travel to NYCBS locations for patient care needs
- At least 1 year of patient care experience
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency with an EMR
- At least 1 year of experience in an oncology outpatient center
- At least 1 year of experience in administering medications
